Weight is the first lesson in headpieces

A bodice carries an applique on a broad, supported surface. A hair comb carries the same rhinestone Diamond Flower on two centimetres of teeth pushed into hair. That is the whole anchor. Everything the motif weighs pulls on that small grip, and it pulls sideways every time the wearer turns her head.
胸前是把花片放在一大块有支撑的面上。发梳是把同一枚水钻花片，架在插进头发的两厘米梳齿上。全部的着力点就这么点。花片有多重，全压在这一小撮抓力上，而且每次转头都往侧面拽。
So we design a crystal hair comb from the grams up. A resin-stone flower on a light backing can go bigger before it starts to tip; a full glass rhinestone cluster of the same size weighs more and needs a lower profile or a second anchor. Buyers used to sourcing flat trims by the metre often skip this and spec by look alone. Then the sample photographs beautifully and slides off within an hour of real wear.

Fixing the motif to a comb, band or clip
把花片固定到发梳、发箍或夹子上
The join between the flower and the hardware is where most headpieces fail, so we don't rely on adhesive alone. A rhinestone Diamond Flower bonded straight to a metal comb spine has one weak line, and heat, sweat and flexing all work on it. We back the motif on a small felt or mesh pad first, then stitch the pad to the comb through its bar holes with waxed thread. Glue holds the stones to the pad; thread holds the pad to the metal. Two independent systems, so one failing does not drop the piece.
花片和五金的接口，是多数头饰坏掉的地方，所以我们不光靠胶。水钻花片直接粘在金属梳背上，只有一道薄弱线，热、汗、弯折全往这道线上使劲。我们先把花片打底在一小块毛毡或网片垫上，再用蜡线穿过梳背的孔把垫子缝到梳子上。胶把钻固定在垫上，线把垫固定在金属上。两套独立系统，坏一套也不会整个掉。
The hardware itself is a spec you should set, not leave to us to guess. Combs come in metal or resin, in different tooth counts and tooth lengths, and the right one depends on hair type: fine hair grips better on a fine-tooth metal comb, thick or curly hair needs longer resin teeth. The same flower can also sit on a covered headband, an alligator clip, or a U-pin for pinned updos. Tell us the mount and we build the backing to suit it, because a band flexes where a comb does not.

Fascinators and race day: movement and height
头饰与赛马会：动感与高度
Wedding hair wants the sparkle to sit still. Race-day millinery wants the opposite: a fascinator earns its place by moving. At Ascot or a spring carnival the piece is seen across a lawn and in wind, so a little tremble and a raised profile read from a distance where a flat motif disappears.
婚礼发饰要闪得稳。赛马会礼帽要的正相反：头饰靠动来出彩。在阿斯科特或春季赛马会上，头饰是隔着草坪、迎着风被看到的，所以一点颤动和抬高的高度，能从远处被读出来，平贴的花片在那个距离就消失了。
We build that movement in on purpose. Mounting a rhinestone Diamond Flower on a short coiled wire or a sprung stem lets it nod as the wearer moves, and each nod catches daylight at a new angle. The trade-off is stability, so the base has to be heavier or wider to hold a moving top. This is the reverse of a wedding comb, where we kill movement and keep the centre of gravity low. Same flower, opposite build. Knowing which occasion you are making for changes the engineering, not just the trim.
这种动感我们是故意做进去的。把水钻花片装在一小段盘绕的弹簧丝或弹性茎上，戴的人一动它就点头，每点一次头都在新角度接住日光。代价是稳定性，所以底要更重或更宽，才撑得住会动的顶。这跟婚礼发梳正相反，那边我们要把动感压掉、把重心放低。同一枚花，做法相反。知道你做的是哪个场合，改的是结构，不只是辅料。
Colour under daylight and marquee light
日光与帐篷光下的颜色
Headpieces get worn under two lights that fight each other. Race day is hard outdoor daylight; a wedding reception is warm marquee or tungsten. Glass rhinestone holds its refraction under both and throws clean colour, which is why AB-coated crystal on a fascinator sparks in sun the way resin never will. Under warm indoor light, though, a cool silver crystal can read grey against skin, so for evening pieces we often shift toward a warmer stone or a gold-tone setting.
头饰会在两种互相打架的光下被戴。赛马会是硬的户外日光；婚宴是暖的帐篷光或钨丝灯。玻璃水钻在两种光下都保得住折射、甩得出干净的颜色，这就是为什么头饰上镀 AB 的玻璃钻在太阳下会炸，树脂钻永远做不到。但在暖的室内光下，冷调的银色玻璃钻贴着皮肤会显灰，所以晚装头饰我们常往偏暖的钻或金色底座上挪。
If the piece has to match a gown or a tie, send a Pantone reference rather than a screen photo. Crystal picks up the colour around it, so we set the stone family against your actual fabric, not against a monitor that lies about warmth.

A reference photo shows the look. It does not show the mount, the weight limit, or the occasion, and those three decide the build. What shortens the loop:

- The mount you want: metal comb, resin comb, covered band, clip, U-pin, or sprung fascinator stem
- Hair type it is aimed at, since that sets tooth length and grip
- Occasion: still for weddings, or moving for race day
- Maximum weight or size you have found comfortable, from a piece the wearer already likes
- Stone family and grade: glass rhinestone where it catches sun or camera, resin where weight matters more than sparkle
- A Pantone reference if the crystal has to match a gown, tie or hatband
- 你要的装法：金属梳、树脂梳、包布发箍、夹子、U 型针，还是弹性礼帽茎
- 面向的发质，这决定齿长和抓力
