The second order is where suppliers lose buyers.

The first order has everyone paying attention. Samples, signoffs, calls, photos compared in two time zones. The result usually hits.
第一单 · 两边都在盯。打样、签字、电话、跨时区比照片。出来的结果通常都不差。
The second order — six weeks later, three months later, a year later — is where most rhinestone supplier relationships quietly drift. The buyer assumes the supplier still remembers. The supplier assumes the buyer will speak up if something’s off. Both usually overestimate the other side’s level of attention by a notch.
第二单 — 六周后、三个月后、一年后 — 是大多数水钻供应商关系悄悄漂移的节点。客户默认供应商还记得。供应商默认客户有问题会开口。两边对对方关注度的估计 · 通常都偏高一档。
The fix isn’t more attention. The fix is fewer things to remember. Specifically, the five specs below: lock them down at the first order, and the sixth batch can run off a written record without anyone having to “remember the colour” from last spring.
解决办法不是加大关注力度。解决办法是减少要记的东西。具体就是下面五项规格:第一单锁死 · 第六批就能按记录跑 · 没人需要"回忆去年春天那个色"。
02 · Spec 1 · Stone Supplier & Grade

水钻供应商与等级
A rhinestone is not a rhinestone. Different suppliers cut different facets, plate the back with different finishes, and calibrate the same colour name a half-step apart. Two SS10 stones from two suppliers, both labelled "crystal AB," can read visibly different on the same finished trim. Lock the supplier name and the grade in the order record — not just "crystal."
水钻不等于水钻。不同供应商切的多面不一样、背面电镀不一样、同一个色名调出来差半档。两颗 SS10 · 都标 "crystal AB" · 出在同一条成品条上肉眼能看出区别。订单记录里要写供应商名字和等级 — 不能只写"水钻"。
Why this drifts: if the original supplier runs out mid-season, a "comparable substitute" will look different in the finished product. Better to know that’s happening before the bulk runs, not after.
为什么会漂移:原供应商断货时 · "等同替代" 出在成品上必然不一样。最好在量产前知道 · 而不是量产后发现。
03 · Spec 2 · Adhesive Backing

Adhesive backing — named, not implied.
背面方式 — 写明 · 不要默认
Hot-melt and 513 double-sided behave very differently on a customer’s production line. Hot-melt activates under heat-press at a specific temperature window. 513 is pressure-sensitive and works on heat-intolerant surfaces. They are not interchangeable. The order record should name which backing the original sample used — not just "adhesive."

Why this drifts: a re-order that arrives with the “wrong” backing usually traces back to a sample where neither side wrote the backing type down. The line can’t process it the same way. Production stops.

04 · Spec 3 · Inner Core / Base Structure

Inner core — for fabric-backed trim.
内层 — 布底条带的关键
For fabric-backed products like Diamond Rope and Shoe Upper, the inner core (cotton / EVA / PVC / PU / TPU) changes how the trim drapes, how it cuts, and how it survives wear. Cotton is soft and breathes. TPU is firm and waterproof. EVA is light and forgiving. Same outer construction over a different inner core walks out of the factory as a different product.

Why this drifts: inner core is the spec most buyers don’t think to ask about during sampling. If it’s not in the order record, the supplier may quietly substitute the most-available core six months later. Catalogue specs hold; finished products feel different.
为什么会漂移:内层是大多数客户打样时不会问的规格。如果没写进订单记录 · 半年后供应商可能默默换成手边最方便的内层。目录规格不变 · 成品手感不一样了。
05 · Spec 4 · Geometry

Width, row count, stone size — all three.
宽度、排数、钻号 — 三项都要
Geometry is the spec where re-orders most often miss by 1–2 mm or one row count, because either side defaults to a "standard" they remember slightly differently. For Diamond Lace, a 3-row SS6 trim and a 3-row SS8 trim sit at almost the same width but read visibly different. For Bangle Diamond Sticker, an 8 mm and a 10 mm bangle strip are different products at different price points. Write all three.

Why this drifts: "standard width" means different things to different production teams. The first sample defines what "standard" is for this order. Make that definition explicit.

06 · Spec 5 · Colour Code

Colour code — industry reference, not photo.

"Same as last time" is the answer that triggers the most repeat-order arguments. Lock colour with an industry reference: a Swarovski code, a Preciosa code, or a Pantone reference for the fabric base. If none of those fit, hold back a physical sample piece from the original order on your side, and courier a fresh piece to the supplier as the colour baseline for this batch.
"和上次一样就行" — 翻单时最容易引发争议的一句话。用行业代号把钻色锁死:Swarovski 代号、Preciosa 代号、或布底用 Pantone 编号。都对不上的话 · 自己留一片原单实物 · 把新的一片快递给供应商 · 作为这一批的色样基准。
Why this drifts: stone colour, like fabric dye lots, shifts batch to batch. A reference code makes "shifted vs not shifted" measurable instead of arguable.

07 · The Re-Order Spec Sheet
Five specs · one document · pull it for every re-order.

The deliverable here is one document — one page per product, kept on both sides. The buyer attaches it to every re-order. The supplier checks the quote against it. The re-order arrives matching the original because both sides are reading off the same page, not their own memory.
这件事的交付物是一份文档 — 一个产品一页 · 两边各留一份。客户每次翻单都附上。供应商报价时对着查。翻单到货跟原单一致 — 因为两边读的是同一页 · 不是各自的记忆。

Why this works long-term
A spec sheet outlives the people who placed the original order.
Buying teams change. Sales contacts change. The spec sheet doesn’t. A re-order that’s ten orders deep can still match the first if the sheet is being read each time. This is what supplier consistency actually looks like at the operational level — not memory, not goodwill, but a written record that travels with the order.
